Bath Preservation Trust has regretfully objected to the planning application for 180 houses on the old MOD site at Ensleigh, on grounds that the layout and design of the site fail to respect the distinctiveness of the setting both of the World Heritage Site, and of the Grade I Beckford’s Tower adjacent to the site. In addition, the application lacks clarity about materials, makes claims for through views which are not apparent in the design, and breaches the height recommendations of the landscape study which preceded the sale of the land.
