Simplifying the Steps to Greener Listed Buildings

Simplifying the Steps to Greener Listed Buildings

While we’ve been busy working behind the scenes for a few months now, this week marks the official launch of Green Heritage Homes – a partner project to help the occupiers of listed buildings and professionals reduce energy use in listed buildings.

Working in partnership, Bath Preservation Trust, Bath & North East Somerset Council, the Centre for Sustainable Energy and People Powered Retrofit, and Bath & West Community Energy – BWCE are proud to be spearheading a new project which builds on over a decade of research and ground-breaking best practice advice advocated by Bath Preservation Trust.

Grant-funded until March 2025, the project will demystify heritage conservation principles and energy efficiency to enable people to make their homes warmer, greener, and cheaper to heat, by working with an understanding of the special interest of their listed building.

Through the new programme, conservation and energy professionals will provide low-cost, high-quality advice through home visits, events, and online resources. The support/service is aimed at listed building owners and occupiers, landlords of listed buildings, and building professionals.

Join the following FREE webinar to find out about the steps to improving energy efficiency of listed properties whilst protecting our vital heritage:
“Energy Efficient Listed Buildings” on Wednesday 15 May 2024 9.30-12.00pm: https://buytickets.at/bathwestcommunityenergy/1190612
Hosted by Bath & West Community Energy (BWCE), Bath Preservation Trust and Bath and North East Somerset Council.

In addition to promoting the webinar, BWCE is also seeking ‘Listing Building Champions’ to receive conservation and retrofit guidance from B&NES Council and BWCE at the heavily discounted rate of £150-250 in exchange for inspiring others by sharing their energy efficiency journey.
The project is funded through a grant from the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero’s Local Energy Advice Demonstrator Programme (LEAD), awarded by the South West Net Zero Hub.
