Kings Court, Parsonage Lane, City Centre
Kings Court forms part of a Grade II late Georgian residential terrace, now offices and shops, situated at the core of the Bath conservation area and World Heritage site. It is of notable visual significance within the conservation area due to its double frontage along both Union Street and Parsonage Lane.
BPT has previously commented in response to application 20/01011/AR, and we maintain our concern regarding the potential harm to stonework caused through the individual pinning of metal letters. We would therefore emphasise the importance of clarifying the age of the stonework surrounding the existing entrance, as this application would be more appropriately justifiable if it only resulted in a loss of modern stonework with negligible historic value.
However, we have some concerns regarding the reference made to the proposed “internal and external signage with integrated lighting” in the D&A Statement without further explanation. We would ask if this reference relates to the existing light fittings on the front of the building, or the intention to install further lighting, an increase in which we would be obliged to object to in principle.
