First Floor Flat, 37 Walcot Street, City Centre
37 Walcot Street is a Grade II late Georgian building situated within the Bath conservation area and World Heritage site. It forms part of a terrace of independent shops, part of Bath’s ‘artisan quarter’, and adjoins the Grade II mid-Georgian 35 Walcot Street.
The Trust has some concerns regarding the proposed extension’s visibility from Broad Street Place, particularly regarding the proposed insertion of a staircase and a pedestrian gate. We would strongly recommend that proposed context elevations are provided along with details regarding the proposed staircase and entrance to enable the LPA to best assess how this new impact route will impact the boundary backland character of 37 Walcot Street, as well as the overall appearance of Broad Street Place. We would further suggest the inclusion of contextual photographs of the wall as existing for improved comparison.
