Eastern House, Beechen Cliff, Road Bear Flat
Eastern House is a Grade II late Georgian house situated in the Bath conservation area and World Heritage site. As described in the 1975 entry in the list of buildings of buildings of special architectural and historic interest, the building is constructed of ashlar with “slate roofs”; the slates have since been replaced with concrete equivalents.
Therefore, we are supportive of the reinstatement of a natural slate roof and the removal of the inappropriate use of concrete roof tiles on a listed building. We feel this application will reinstate the material integrity of a Grade II listed building.
