Internal and external alterations for the Installation of a positive input ventilation unit and extract fan to remedy damp issues within the lower ground floor apartment.
Our Response

Where the addition of a new vent would be located in the rear elevation at lower ground floor level, this would be of very limited view from public viewpoints such as Ringswell Gardens due to setback from the road and the screening effect of garden planting as well as development to the terrace rear such as 132-134 Ringswell Gardens.

It is recommended that the vent should be of a recessive colour such as grey or cream to blend with the Bath stone. Alternately, a colour that matches existing examples of RWPs already in situ may be considered to ensure a coherent finish. Where possible, any fixings or new openings should be concentrated on the mortared joints between the stonework to minimise as far as possible the irreversible loss of historic stonework.

Where we do not typically comment on internal works without the benefit of a site visit, we trust that any adverse impact resulting from the addition of the ventilation unit and its associated timber grille-fronted cover will be appropriately considered by the case officer.
