Our Response We recommend that the proposed flue and gas meter should be a cream or buff colour to be more recessive in colour against the Bath stone façade, to ensure a coherent appearance and finish that does not detract from the appearance of a listed building. Where the gas supply pipe would be run externally along the lightwell floor, we additionally recommend that this is finished in a matching buff colour and chased as closely as possible into the intersection with the lightwell wall to ensure an appropriately recessive position and appearance. Where possible, we recommend any fixings or new openings are concentrated on the mortared joints between the stonework to minimise as far as possible the irreversible loss of historic stonework.
