There appears to be a disparity in the documents as currently submitted with regards to the proposed material finish of the new area of hardstanding. Whilst the proposed drawings indicate this would be a “permeable paving surface”, the application form proposes the use of a “cast concrete slab” which would not be permeable. We trust that this aspect of the scheme will be clarified with the case officer to ensure that concerns relating to water drainage and run-off are suitably addressed through an appropriately permeable material finish.
Works would result in the loss of the lower portion of the garden and its green contribution to the street, but it is acknowledged that a high number of garden plots along Chilton Road have already had their lower portion converted to provide garages and off-street parking spaces, off a narrow street which is already under high pressure to meet demands for on-street parking spaces.
