We are supportive of the proposed rebuilding works where it has been indicated that the inner and outer faces have come apart, risking the structural stability of the wall as well as being a health and safety risk. It is proposed to rebuild the wall ‘like-for-like’ reusing all sound rubble stone from the existing wall. Works would reinstate the established boundary treatment and traditional materials and as such would sustain and enhance the setting of the listed building. We commend the opportunity to address previous, inappropriate cement pointing works, with all stonework to be pointed with hydraulic lime mortar.
It is generally recommended that a methodology is included that details the proposed scope of repairs and means of reconstruction.
