Internal alterations for the replacement of existing corroded tie rods within vault.
Our Response Where it is assumed that the existing tie rods are providing an essential structural function regarding the stability of the vaults and raised pavement, the proposed replacement of the corroded ties with stainless steel alternatives is therefore supported. The use of a non-ferrous alternative is more appropriate given the damp conditions of the vault, and the longevity of the new tie rods may be secured through the use of an applied waterproof coating to the metal.
