BPT previously supported application 17/03857/LBA as follows:
“The Trust is impressed at the level of detail regarding this application, in particular the desire to reinstate the overthrow lamps and the attention to detail in the ironworks and repairs. We are pleased to support this sensitive and beneficial conservation scheme.”
We therefore reiterate our support for the current proposals for the application of new hand-painted lettering to the portico of a Grade II* listed building. The use of historic photography from the 1920s-1970s clearly informs the proposed placement, scale, and approximate type font of the proposed signage, which would supersede a later, post-1973 repainting of the sign. The use of hand-painted signage would sustain the aesthetic value and architectural interest of the listed building and enhance the character and appearance of the conservation area.
