Demolition of existing porch and rear single storey extensions and construction of new 2 storey rear extension, single storey extension and single storey porch.
Our Response The proposed side elevation of the rear extension would be of some visibility from Farrs Lane, and as such differs from the comparable extension at 2 Farrs Cottages which is set back from the road and screened on all three sides by private gardens. We therefore emphasise the need to ensure a quality material finish across the visible north-east elevation of the proposed extension. We have some concerns about the use of an external render where this can result in a sharp visual contrast in colour and finish with the existing natural stone blockwork of the cottage. We therefore suggest that a natural stone finish across the entirety of this elevation may be more aesthetically suitable, or a natural lime-based render which is more visually compatible against Bath stone.
