Bath Preservation Trust Continues to Oppose Residential Scheme on ‘Important Hillside’ Site

May 26, 2021Bath Preservation TrustWorld Heritage Site

A scheme for nine homes on a green hillside site has been resubmitted. The previous application was dismissed at appeal due to harm to biodiversity. As part of the resubmitted proposals, the northern section of the site would be included in the scheme and maintained as scrubland habitat. We maintain an in-principle objection to this development; the site forms part of an ‘important hillside’ within the World Heritage Site and is a significant open space within a denser, residential area. We are opposed to the erosion of this green hillside site through increasing development pressure, and maintain any development would establish an unwelcome precedent. We additionally have concerns regarding the design of the proposed houses, and we feel a terrace would be out of character in an area of largely semi-detached homes. You can read our objection in full here.
