Our Response

Object: The proposed signage is of inadequate design and inappropriate materials given its location within AONB, Green Belt and the setting of WHS. The use of vinyl is inappropriate and the proposed graphics are of poor quality. Such a sign would be detrimental and cluttering to the rural setting and lacks the quality required of a gateway location to the city.

The proposed scheme by virtue of it materials, appearance and siting would be visually harmful. It neither enhances the visual amenity of the Green Belt or conserves the landscape and scenic beauty of the AONB and detracts from the special qualities of the WHS setting. The scheme would be contrary Section 11 of the NPPF, policy B4 of the B&NES Core Strategy and polices CP6, NE2 and GB1 of the B&NES Placemaking Plan. We would therefore recommend that the application is refused or withdrawn.
