Internal alterations to include removal of the suspended ceiling, allowing the unification of this space as originally intended. Installation of a destratification fan system to hang vertically from the most upper point of the clerestory drum.

Our Response

Support: The Trust is supportive of this application on the basis that there is a high level of benefit and enhancement to the special interest of the listed building by the removal of the false ceiling and the revealing of the drum roof space and this outweighs the small amount of visual intrusion created by the fans which are in themselves legible additions that are highly reversible. The fans also ensure the ongoing use and conservation of the asset and its fabric. We assume the case officer will make the necessary conditions to ensure wiring etc. is installed with the least physical and visual impact.
