Internal and external alterations for the installation of a replacement combi boiler on the ground floor, including filling the existing flue and re-opening another.

Our Response

It is difficult to tell from the application where the flue will vent out of the building. The flue should be of a recessive colour such as grey or cream to blend with the Bath stone. In addition the applicant talks of making good with white mortar – this sounds concerning; the hole should be filled with lime mortar or an appropriate Bath stone dust permeable mix, If it is large a piece of stone should be pieced in to ensure the elevation is not pockmarked.
