Internal and external works to include changing Ground Floor external paintwork from black to heritage off-white Farrow & Ball colour in matt eggshell finish, changing signage to Eight Holland Street with discrete hand painted lettering, ground floor, replace existing back door with traditional hardwood half-glazed door, ground floor, hallway, install natural stone floor to replace vinyl, second floor, add fire door between landing and corridor within existing opening to match original panelled doors in building, third floor, create Ensuite directly above existing bathroom on second floor, create opening and install traditional panelled door between Bedroom 3 and Ensuite, add traditional panelled door between Landing and Corridor to Bedroom 6.
Due to the building’s location within the Bath conservation area, prominent position along a local high street, and retained use of traditional shop front vernacular, the shop frontage is expected to comply with relevant guidance regarding the appropriate use of materials, colours, and a lack of illuminated signage, in keeping with the wider historic character of the Bath conservation area and World Heritage Site.
We are supportive of the use of a traditional approach to the hand-painted fascia. The repainting of the shopfront in off-white with a matt finish is considered to be acceptable.
It would be helpful to clarify whether the existing awning would be removed, or retained and reused as part of the new shop premises, and any associated alterations in colour or design.
