Proposed loft conversion to form a store room.

Our Response

10 Cork Terrace forms part of an unlisted late 19th – early 20th century residential terrace situated within the Bath conservation area and World Heritage Site. The terrace is modest in scale at 2 ½ storeys with an attractive gable-ended frontage in coursed ashlar stone, with panelled bay windows at ground floor. The terrace unusually features third floor blind windows set within highly decorative stone surrounds, although the majority of these have since been opened up and form attic-level windows across the terrace.

Considering the existing precedents along the street, we suggest that a sash profile at third floor level may be more in-keeping and would allow for natural ventilation and air flow to alleviate the effects of overheating, which is typically experienced more in loft conversions.
