The Trust has responded to a masterplan for the revitalisation and refurbishment of Sydney Gardens as part of an HLF bid for £2.7m grant from the ‘Parks for People’ programme. The plans for the 18th century pleasure gardens include a new cafe and children’s play area, and general refurbishment works to both structures and landscape. Our main focus is the heritage assets within the park (Edwardian loos, temples, boundary walls and railway/canal structures) and their restoration. We support the overall ambitions to regenerate the park and provide extra facilities. We have offered to continue to offer input, advice and support on the heritage considerations of this project. You can read our overall response here.
