Replacement of existing timber shopfront inclusive of fixed window panes and openable doors.

Our Response

11 Bridge Street is a 1980s single storey building situated within the Bath conservation area and World Heritage Site. It is located on the site of an older building that has since been demolished, and is attached to 9-10 Bridge Street, the Grade II 18th century former premises of the music business Duck, Son & Pinker with bespoke Edwardian shop fronts. As such, it forms part of a Grade II listed building. The existing, non-historic shopfront is currently in poor condition.

We are supportive of the proposed like-for-like replacement of the timber shopfront. We additionally support the use of matching paint colours and hand-painted signage, in accordance with the shopfront vernacular of the wider conservation area. The necessary replacement of a poor condition, deteriorating shopfront would constitute a visual enhancement.
