Installation of photovoltaic panels on roof of pool pavilion.

Our Response

The Old Rectory is a Grade II 17th century detached house situated within the Bathampton conservation area and the indicative landscape setting of the Bath World Heritage site. Its attached gardens border the Kennet & Avon Canal. Whilst the swimming pool pavilion does not share the Old Rectory’s designation, any changes must be considered within the contextual setting of the listed building.

BPT is supportive of the discreet installation of PV panels; we feel the generation of green, carbon-neutral energy is crucial in light of the current Climate Emergency.

We are pleased to see that the proposed panels sit below the parapet of the pool pavilion building, and utilise a matt black design as advised by Policy SCR2 of the Core Strategy and Placemaking Plan. There will therefore be a negligible visual impact on the conservation area or the setting of a Grade II listed building.
