Erection of two storey extension to south west elevation.

Our Response

We are concerned regarding the size of the proposed extension to this undesignated heritage asset, which will significantly alter and overtake the form of the building. As detailed in the application, this is a coach and stable house connected to a significant listed building. Whilst now not in the same ownership as Bathwick Lodge it is still part of the history and narrative of the Lodge and in its current form it is still recognisable as an ancillary functional building to the Lodge. The extension proposed would totally overwhelm the traditional subservient mews form of the house, both in design and in size, and would therefore divorce it visually from the main house, thus impacting detrimentally on the ability to understand and appreciate the special historic interest of the principal building.
