Our Response

1-2 Dafford Street is a Grade II dwelling, previously a Methodist Chapel, built in 1832. It is situated within the Bath conservation area and World Heritage site, and forms part of the largely Grade II early to mid-19th century residential streetscape of Dafford Street.

BPT cannot make informed comments on the proposed internal changes to this property. However, we have noticed that minimal information has been provided regarding the intended repair of the wrought iron railings that form part of the building’s distinctive façade, as well as being specifically referred to as part of the listing entry. Therefore, we would encourage that further descriptions of the proposed railing repairs are included as part of the application with regards as to how these changes might either impact or enhance the historic appearance of a listed building.
