The Trust fully supports these proposals and we commend the applicant on an exemplary pre-planning and planning and listed building consent application. We are pleased to see that whilst innovative and necessary modern interventions are to be installed to ‘future proof’ the dams in the event of flooding, these elements are sensitive and well integrated into this highly significant historic landscape. The reinstatement of 18th century features such as the cascade is supported as is the fact that opportunities are being taken to generally improve and conserve the ponds including the stability of the pond banks.
