Our Response

Notwithstanding the lack of documentation or a method statement regarding the removal of paint from the elevation, we support this element of the proposal, as removing the paint will improve the condition of the fabric of the building and enhance its special interest. We assume that the case officer will be satisfied that the method of removal is appropriate. We have a concern with the proposal to place pin mounted lettering of the façade given that it is harmful to the fabric in its fixings but accept that this may be the only solution once the paint has been removed as we would on balance not wish to see painted signage on unpainted Bath ashlar stone.
