Internal and external alterations for the refurbishment of flat to include replacement of the existing front door, and 5 internal doors. Replace existing window over front door with privacy glass. Complete redecoration of property including external face of sash windows. Relocate kitchen to form an ‘open plan’ kitchen/sitting room and use of existing kitchen as a study and/or second bedroom. Addition of en-suite to the master bedroom. Replace exterior lighting. Repair of flat roof.
Despite the building’s Grade I status, there is an absence of clarity in the application regarding the proposed external changes. There are no photographs or drawings of the west elevation as existing or with the proposed changes, and as such it is difficult to ascertain the level of change being proposed.
Should the principle of external lighting be considered appropriate, we strongly recommend that fixings are located within the mortar joints where possible to minimise drilling holes into the stonework and resulting loss of historic fabric.
