Our Response

Hamilton House, also known as 10 North Parade Buildings, is a Grade II mid-18th century house situated in the core of the Bath conservation area and World Heritage site. It is positioned at the end of the North Parade Buildings terrace, and overlooks North Parade Passage and multiple listed buildings, including some Grade II* examples of mid-17th and early 18th century architecture.

The Trust is supportive of the installation of secondary glazing to improve the thermal performance of the building without compromising on its historic features. The installation along the uppermost storey of the building means this measure will be largely invisible from street level, and therefore mitigate any potential visual impact. We feel this measure would be a positive, easily reversible addition to improve the energy efficiency and residential comfort of a historic building and ensure its long-term, sustainable use.
