Proposal
Internal and external alterations to include creation of a larger ground floor extension and first floor rear extension. Addition of a new parking space.
Our Response Lambridge Street is a well used main route through Larkhall and the rear garden walls of these listed buildings are highly prominent in the streetscene. Notwithstanding that some very unsympathetic alterations have taken part in the past, there are surviving sections of historic rear rubble walls along, which make a positive contribution to the character of the area. Therefore the loss of the historic rubble rear wall would harm the character and appearance of the Conservation Area, with no public benefit to justify the harm. The existence of other open parking bays, which have harmed the strong enclosure of these rear garden walls, does not justify the harm. The Trust also objects to the loss of what looks from the photos to an historic window and questions whether the full width rear extension and the new landing level extension would preserve this listed building. The proposal would therefore be contrary to the PMP Policy HE1 and the policies set down in the National Planning Policy Framework Section 16.
