Internal and external alterations to include new internal fire door, and insertion of slim line double glazed windows in new extension to match original.

Our Response

23 Lambridge Place forms part of a Grade II Georgian residential terrace situated within the Bath conservation area and World Heritage site.

BPT is supportive of the replacement of contemporary sash windows in the rear extension with slimline double-glazed timber equivalents in the same design so as to match the retained one-over-one sash windows on the rear façade of the main dwelling. In light of the current Climate Emergency, we encourage the sensitive, low-impact energy retrofit of historic buildings as part of a ‘whole home’ approach. We feel that the replacement of contemporary windows to the rear will improve the thermal efficiency of the extension, and will have a negligible visual impact on the setting of the conservation area. We would question why single-glazed sash windows were originally selected as part of application 17/02937/LBA in the first place.
