External alterations to re-instate decorative stone detail to the gable on the south elevation of the property.

Our Response

22 Macaulay Buildings is a Grade II late Georgian Tudor Revival villa situated within the Bath conservation area and World Heritage site. It is one of a pair of detached dwellings at the end of Macaulay Buildings in this style, diverting from the typical Georgian terraced proportions of this streetscape.

The Trust does not oppose the reinstatement of original historic features, which would enhance the original, intended appearance and design of a listed building. However, we note a lack of detail with regards to the proposed means of fixing to the parapet, or how the new single-skin gable end will sit flush with the double pitch coping stone. We trust these details will be clarified with the LPA as part of this application.
