External alterations for the replacement of roof lantern.

Our Response

19 Queen Square forms part of a Grade I Georgian terrace of monumental townhouses situated within the Bath conservation area and World Heritage site. It remains a significant example of Georgian town planning and innovations in dramatic urban topography, and therefore strongly contributes to the OUV of the World Heritage site. This proposal would not affect the external, primary south elevation of the building.

The Trust is supportive of the proposed replacement of a 20th century roof lantern in an unsympathetic design, with a more traditional form, profile, and use of materials. We have no objection to the use of double glazing in this concealed position, within the context of this application.
