Repaint the exterior and corresponding interior shop front to include the wooden window sills, ledges, fascia board and front door.

Our Response

16 Cheap Street forms part of a terrace of Grade II Georgian buildings situated within the core of the Bath conservation area and World Heritage site. This building is characteristic of Bath’s architectural tradition through its use of Bath stone ashlar and six over six timber sash windows, therefore positively contributing to the city’s distinctive Georgian character. Any external changes are required to be sensitive to the architectural value of the listed building as well as its historic environment.

We are supportive of the proposed repainting of the shopfront in a light, neutral colour with a matte finish, and feel that this would suitably enhance the architectural appearance of a listed building.

We are additionally supportive of the proposed hand-lettered signage that utilises a traditional, high quality finish that corresponds with Bath’s bespoke shopfront character.
