Our Response The Trust notes with regret the loss of small units and local traders. Contrary to the applicants’ statement, the letting of this enlarged space to a “national” trader is a retrogressive step, which will have long implications for the attractiveness of Bath as a special place to visit. The Trust would urge the Southgate Ltd Partnership to rethink its retail/restaurant strategy and to consider enhancing the visitor experience by allowing locally distinctive operators to stay in the Square.
