Bath Transportation Package

For the Trust’s response to the Bath Transport Package and previous proposals for the park and ride site to the east of Bath click here. In 2011 proposed plan to build a Park & Ride to the east of Bath was removed from the new (Lib Dem) administration’s amended Bath Transportation Package.

BPT continues to keep a watching brief and to oppose a P&R on the Bathampton Meadows site to the east of Bath. An independent group called VeraCity Bath was set up in 2010 to fight the Bath Transportation Package; they became involved in taking legal actions against the Government Office South West and B&NES Council and raising funds to support this action.  For more information follow this link. BPT is not a member of this group.

BPT wrote to the GOSW to request that the park and ride proposal was called-in for determination at a Public Inquiry, view the letter here. The Secretary of State announced on the 8th October 2010 that the planning applications for a new park and ride and Batheaston and the Rapid Transit route through Newbridge should be dealt with by B&NES Council and that there will be no call-in for a Public Inquiry. The Bath Preservation Trust regretted the Secretary of State’s decision that the impact of a park and ride site, on the universally significant landscape setting to the city of Bath World Heritage Site, is not more than of local importance.
