Bath Quays North outline plans approved

August 2, 2018Bath Preservation TrustBath Quays, Major development site, News

Outline planning approval has been given by the B&NES Development Management Committee for the new B&NES flagship mixed use development at Bath Quays North (site of the Avon Street car park).  The scheme looks to set the detailed design codes and form, height, scale parameters for the scheme, including access, public realm and street layout.  The Trust has always supported the consultative approach of the project team (having ourselves been involved from the early workshops to present) and we have always felt the overall direction of travel to be positive. Our last submitted response to this scheme looked in detail at some concerns (including heights and lack of affordable housing) but in general our comments were supportive.  We have always reiterated the need for the architects of the outline scheme (Allies & Morrison) as masterplanners to remain involved in some way as architects are chosen and detailed designs come forward for the reserved matters application.
