The main house at No.1 Royal Crescent will fully re-open on 21 June. Open at the moment are just four rooms in the restored domestic wing. Do pop in before 28 April to view an exhibition, the new Georgian shop and a display updating you on the Whole Story Project. The project to reconnect the main house to its original service wing next door is therfore nearing completion. Visitors will be able to experience much more of the lives of those living here – both above and below stairs – when the house was first built.
No.1 was the first house to be built in John Wood’s masterpiece of Palladian design. The magnificent town-house creates a wonderfully vivid picture of fashionable life in C18th Bath. Each room is an exquisite example of Georgian interior design with authentic furniture, paintings, objects and textiles. From the elegance of the drawing and dining rooms, the bedrooms and parlour, to the warren of servants’ corridors, kitchen, scullery and housekeeper’s room, you will be intrigued by the stories the house portrays.
