EXHIBITION: The Royal Crescent Deconstructed / Reconstructed

Until 4 June   Free with normal admission Through an exciting new installation No. 1 Royal Crescent is broken into pieces.  As fragments are linked to objects at the Museum of Bath Architecture the building is then reformed, revealing the design and craftsmanship that came together to construct the Royal Crescent 250 years ago.

Summer Concerts in the Museum of Bath Architecture Fri 9 Jun 18:30–19:30 £10 incl glass of wine Temple Ensemble Vivaldi, Concerto for Bassoon and Strings Weber, Clarinet Quintet Beethoven, Sextet London-based, the Temple Ensemble was formed by clarinettist Poppy Beddoe at the Royal Academy of Music. They perform throughout the UK and in SW France.

200 years after the Royal Crescent was built, Alison and Peter Smithson, England’s most influential post-war architects, looked to the historic city to inspire their modern designs.  As we mark the 250th anniversary of the Royal Crescent this exhibition explores the extraordinary connection between old and new in the Smithson’s work, and the buildings they designed for Bath.

Musicke in the Ayre: Jane Hunt & Maria Danishvar, sopranos and Din Ghani, archlute/baroque guitar A happy hour of gorgeous music (both sacred and secular) from early 17th century Venice by Claudio Monteverdi and some of his contemporaries. Although he was born in Cremona 450 years ago, Venice was where Monteverdi found fulfilment and job satisfaction when he became choirmaster at St Mark’s Basilica, and where many of his masterpieces were written.
